Suzlon Group secured its second-largest order ever from Tata Power
India and the United States are engaged in their first in-person trade talks since the US imposed steep tariffs on Indian goods earlier this year, aiming to address longstanding trade disputes and tariff-related challenges. The discussions, led by US trade representative Brendan Lynch and Indian commerce officials in New Delhi, seek to revive stalled negotiations on a bilateral trade agreement that had been disrupted following the US’s imposition of a 50% tariff on Indian imports, partly in response to India’s procurement of Russian oil. While India defends its energy procurement as essential for domestic needs and branded the tariffs unjust, the US is pushing for greater market access and regulatory reforms. These talks aim to find common ground to resolve trade barriers affecting key Indian exports such as textiles, shrimp, and precious stones.
Suzlon Group has secured its second-largest order ever, receiving an 838 MW contract from Tata Power Renewable Energy for a Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) project. The project involves the installation of 266 of Suzlon’s S144 wind turbines, each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW, spread across the states of Karnataka (302 MW), Maharashtra (271 MW), and Tamil Nadu (265 MW). This significant order underscores the growing momentum in India’s renewable energy sector and reflects Tata Power’s ambitious goal to achieve 100% clean power by 2045.
This collaboration highlights the synergy between Suzlon’s advanced ‘Made in India’ wind technology and Tata Power’s vision for scalable, grid-integrated clean energy solutions. Suzlon’s Vice Chairman Girish Tanti expressed pride in supporting Tata Power’s transition with next-generation technology, reinforcing over a decade of partnership between the two companies. Suzlon Group is a leading global renewable energy solutions provider, with over 21 GW of wind energy capacity installed across 17 countries, backed by world-class R&D centers and manufacturing facilities in India. This order is only second to Suzlon’s largest ever 1,544 MW order from NTPC Green Energy and marks a milestone in accelerating India’s transition towards sustainable energy sources through FDRE projects.
